Quería agradecer a Platano Verde Fundación/Revista por darle un chance y creer en un músico con una página llena de primeras tomas, por animarme en todo momento. Tambien a todos los amigos con los que compartí el día del concierto, y que todos en su forma me ayudaron a mantenerme en mi nube gracias a la forma particular de ser de cada uno, cosa que me ayudo mucho para luego salir a tocar al escenario de modo apropiado, de modo interpretativo. Fue una tarde bastante divertida. Gracias tambien a todo el equipo técnico y de logística que se lo merece por haber sido muy amables con los músicos y por haber tratado a la música con dignidad y respeto, a pesar de todos los contratiempos que surgieron a ultimo minuto. Y al súper-entusiasta publico que asistió, y que de verdad me dejo perpeplo con su receptividad y respuesta. Según mi percepción, una respuesta positiva. En general, noches como ayer, hacen valer la labor de músicos que se quedan concentrados haciendo música 14 ó mas horas diarias, por semanas y/o meses seguidos. En plural porque de alguna manera nos beneficiamos todos. Gracias y nos vemos pronto en escenario. L.

I wanted to thank personally Platano Verde Magazine/Foundation for believing in what I was doing, based on a page with a full ´of songs recorded in first takes. For keeping my spirits high at all moments, as well as friends who were around and did the same. I thank too the friends with whom I spent that evening and helped me to somehow stay in my cloud so to get in stage in music playing mode, in optimal perfomance mode. A very fun and memorable evening. The logistic and back line team was polite and awesome, handling situations with the utmost dignity, despite last minute setbacks. And ultimately and awesomest, the crowd which blew me away in all senses, with their reception and response to the repertoire. That changed quite a bit, having it´s own dialogue, it´s own functional enter twined parts, so to speak. Whole evenings/nights like saturdays make worthy months and months of being sumerged in music more than 14 hours a day . We all beneficiate from this. Thank you and hopefully see you again soon on stage. L.

Estaré tocando como Luciano & The Escapades, este Sábado 26 de Junio, a las 9 PM en el Por el Medio de La Calle 2010, en la estación 5, después de Jóvenes y Sexys, que empiezan a las 8 PM. No hay perdida escuchandolos a ellos. La estación queda en la Av. Avila de Chacao. La estación la inagura Domingo en Llamas a las 6 PM. Así que otra razón para pasarse por ahí y escuchar buena música aseguradamente.

So yeah, basically I`ve been relaxing and working hard not so much as to tire myself before next`s weekend gig. After it I`ve got to finish this other stunt I got myself into, happily and voluntary, and that seems that it`s coming very profitable in all senses, and then am gonna disappear 20 days or so in vacations. The long spoken Vacations which never have came.
Because I`ve been mainly polishing the songs for the set, I really had nothing to blog about, so I decided to place up some Photos I had around in my flickr and up for display. Hope y`all like it.
Please, if you leave comments, which most of them are awesome, minus the Batman and Robin stick your finger in the dark one, please do leave a website which I can verify, or simply place no website at all. Chess. Chekers. The game of the Kings. Sublimable violence. Psychology on the board, unconscious sexual behavior represented on the movement of the pieces and in the tactics used. Intellectual battle grounds. Domination by planing the board. A very addictive game is what it is. I learned with a family member how to play this game: some moves, some attacks, defense techniques and the art of sacrifice, the values of the different pieces. Played every weekend, sometimes for hours, as a child. Then after a whole bunch of years, I double clicked on the Mac Chess.app. Big Mistake. I got hooked instantly.
The same family member happily lended me 6 books which talk about Chess, in all it´s forms. Really, really awesome books. Pure Heaven. The first one I grabbed I did so to have an overview of the game, it´s name: “Psychology of the Chess Player”, written by Reuben Fine.
It has all kind of theories that vary from repressed homosexuality that reflects on chess board moves and tactics, to unresolved father disputes, a revenge on the father figure, represented in this case by the King. A Rivalry fight, ending in the ultimate check mate, to “level” or to fix real psychological issues. And then to the next game. This never ends, that´s why so many of the greats have retired with strange, weird and mysterious excuses. The Queen represents the mother, etc. And then steps into the realm of the libido and sexuality which is expressed in the game. Phallic and impotent whole chess game moves.Pieces that symbolize the genitals, phallics and other wise. Impotence and sexual unresolved issues which can explode in repeated failed attacks or moves that have no value in the schematic options provided by the chessboard. Sexual issues and healthy libido. It blew my frikin head off. Then there´s the theory of sublimated violence by the game of Chess, hostile behaviors, total domination, Intellectual Battles. etc. I never knew all those things were at stake while I was moving my pieces innocently and mentally planning my moves on the board. Of course, some theories don´t apply to all, etc etc.
So I was getting a bloodshed on the board. Started reading this other book called: Semi-opening apertures, by Ludek Pachman (coolest last name ever). This books guides you thru techniques and moves, and thru the games of the greats. Something majestic. Yeah, now I was ready to infest all my mental sexually charged aggression on the chess board and see the board as a mathematical and psychological 6-D ground. To cover up and let my imagination go. Let the intellect guide.
I Double clicked on the chess application, grabbed my genitals soccer player style, and made a move, backed up by my mental strategy. One move, just right in the pocket, the binary code computer had fallen on the trap which would have unchained a massacre on the chess board. My first win, or semi win in days of playing against this binary machine. I was the master, the computer, the one being controlled. And then as if Mac programs do this, it bitched out. It chiken out, completely. It suffered a sudden and lasting amnesia. As we say here in Venezuela, se pico la maquina y se hizo la loca. I don´t know the perfect traduction for it, or I don`t remember it, but is as if the machine chickened out and made a coward move. And made a shady move: Here it is on video. Binary Amnesia. I controlled Z the hell out of it, and it kept doing the same move. It didn´t remember the move. It doesn´t remember a thing. I sensed a whole bunch of BS, so it must be a whole bunch BS. Worst than Tron. So I just hitter control Q and quitted this rubbish game. The Mac Chess application hasn’t had any bug since the last time it happened. I had never witnessed a chickened out so falsely and dishonorable. I will apply some other measures. Well, there goes the neighborhood.
It´s not a trick and has nothing to do with the beautiful editor that I love, nor the editing. Let´s not get confused now.

Se frusta la aplicación y se hace el loco, amnésica, cuando ve que a la segunda jugada ya tenia ganada la partida el contrincante. Se hace la loca el macho este de aplicación con la cuestión, por que le di un par de veces a control Zeta, y nada. Me come el peón con un bug y sigue como si nada. Desleal y cobarde en letras mayores, este .app, al hacer esto. Menos mal que no me costo nada, y que esto de jugar al ajedrez viene de generaciones atrás. Si sacan lo mismo al Italiano entenderia mejor.

Salí seleccionado como participante en el PEMDLC 2010, y estoy bastante feliz. Comparto mucho de sus filosofías, hacer algo por rescatar la ciudad de Caracas (que bastante deteriorada esta en muchos sentidos) y tratar de encaminarla hacía un estado mas civil, cada quien haciendo lo suyo. Hacerla mas amigable para los peatones. Hacer mas consciente al público en general sobre muchos temas (Issues). Yo, por mi parte, voy a pasarla bien, a escuchar muchas bandas que tengo ganas de ver en tarima, y a pasarmelo en grande, dentro, y fuera del escenario. La Música dará su mensaje. Platano Verde Foundation/Magazine and Cultura Chacao invited me to play one of the most interesting and important Festival of Caracas, so I will be hanging around and up in stage doing mah thing. The whole festival has a phylosophy of it´s own, which bases itself on civility. Thing that`s pretty much needed at this times in this neck of the woods. Civility as in a Henry Rollins stand up comedian kinda way. And obviously it`s about the music and the arts. Crafts which will be played , have intense ties with values that need to be reinforced here and now, specially with everything thats happening on this country. Ethics and stuff. The concert trasnforms one of the most peculiar, and by my part most likable part of Caracas, into a pedestrian zone were theres art displayed and perfomed everywere. From skaters to painters, to Music and mimes. Dig.

As if I weren’t busy enough, I started a Fanzine proyect, and am placing together and event for next month with Fanzine sellings, Gore, B-Movies, Zombie flicks marathons, Music and Beers. And home made shirts by a friend. Maybe Veggie food… I´ll play the most spaced out music I can envision that evening with my labtop in the spaces of the Garrido ONG. If you wanna participate, in any language, please do leave your comment in the box bellow. You can contribute with anything you like about music. Albums or concert reviews. What you like and don´t like about your local scene. Drawings, etc. There comes a CD with the Zine too, so if you wanna contribute with a track, the awesomest the awesome.

I saw this post on my friends Kuámasi`s Tumblr and I just had to share. The Drumme seems to me like a octanized version of Animal from the Muppets who I always loved since I was a Kid, and this is what Wikipedia, knower of all things says about Animal: “It has been suggested that Animal’s character was partially inspired by The Who drummer Keith Moon, mainly due to the bushy eyebrows, the hair and the outrageous behavior behind the drumkit and otherwise”

I was thinking this song was gonna be a mess. It´s the usual: make up parts in the fly, have in your head the parts and the position they are gonna take on the song as a whole, click record and go at it.
If your recording more than one guitar doing the same thing, it´s like cheating, or like the infamous hammond technique used on “Like a Rolling Stone” (google it – am not in any way comparing myself to anything of that caliber – ). It can be very uncomfortable, not knowing when the song is gonna change, you just have to feel it. Playing at live gigs there are signals and all of this, but recording on the fly, without the use of cymbals or anything to give you hints as to when the song is gonna change, it can be tricky and it can develop forward thinking. Everything was done in one hour and a half, it has made me change my way of recording things. They are still gonna be one takes or not, am not sure. Instead it´s gonna take me 2 days. You go and try and make a song from scratch and finish and play it, record it, produce it in one hour and 15 minutes, and get back to me. If there are more than 7 tracks is a plus. Some people have.

Me canse de estar tocando con la Drum machine porque todos los patterns son “Jumpy”. Y solo tengo un cerebro dividido en 2 partes, entonces no me voy a sentar a programar step by step las canciones. Entonces aqui va el anuncio que he puesto en todas partes, menos en el correo del pueblo. Sino sale nada, pues seguiré programando y saliendo a tocar con la D.M.

I place here the add I`ve been placing around looking for bandmates in the Caracas Zone, and I repeat in the add my concept of “playing DIY”, which has gotten some pretty up-nosed comments. Plus my 3 word explanation about it. (on site were it happened)
The drum machine resulted to be O.K, but pretty much all of the patterns sound “Jumpy” and I really don`t feel like programing new beats for a bunch load of songs, besides all the song and lyric composition. But I guess I`ll have to stick around with the drum machine for a while.
