Well, things have been going pretty much OK. Awesome to say the least. Lots of nice gigs i´ve attended, cultural events all over the place, and things been born and transformed. As for me, am taking like a months off after last year, one year and a half, or 2 years (Who keeps count?) of thee “work non stop” policy that I took. That means for people who hate their jobs, I was making music in all it´s forms all day, and night, without stop, and enjoying it. Yeah, this bum got his wheels spinning, I bet you tough otherwise.

I got interviewed in the radio, attended/participated in the filming of La Vida Boheme´s next video, Festin Zombie came out a success, I saw 3 of my Fav bands yesterday playing very loud with a decent sound, meat lot of my friends in one day, drank one beer, and now I intend to Vegetate in my bed for a couple of weeks. Prolly in a month, a month and one week ill get back to music making and all that, non-stop, or till I start to pass out from exhaustion again.

Finally Downloaded the original Start Trek, that is the one that first aired in 1966, so that´s all am gonna be talking about this weeks, apart from role playing and chess. Only those three things. You´ve been warned.

El evento empieza a las 3 pm, se llevara a cabo en la ONG Garrido. Se proyectara la película Bad Taste (Peter Jackson, 1987 – B-Movie) alrededor de las 5 y 30 PM, y [Rec] (Jaume Balagueró y Paco Plaza, 2007 – Zombie/Gore) se proyectara alrededor de las 8 y 30 pm. Entre películas habrá Live painting por Miss Hask, música experimental por Fuzuku, un mural hecho por los chicos de Zuplemento, gráficas de KAD The Rainbow. Habrá venta de Fanzines, calcomanías, comida vegetariana y birras. Estara DJ Ygo con su nuevo set, y Kboom vendiendo su linea de ropa. Estará bastante divertido. Cover de entrada a 6 mil, con una birra.
Esto es el Volumen 1 del una serie de eventos que haremos. Esperamos a que salgan los nuevos números de nuestros Fanzines para tener otra excusa para hacer mas eventos parecidos a este, y con suerte conseguirnos películas mas weird y mas freaks, y clásicos de estos mismos géneros a calidad de poder proyectar al público.

El toque de las 2 bandas fue animal, para no extenderse mucho. Esta es la segunda vez que veo a Los Telecasters y es un show, un toque que siempre añade algo nuevo, y no aburre. Para usar la extrapolación de la palabra, desde que empiezan hasta que terminan, te enganchan con su surf/rock ´n´ roll contagioso, con actitud. Las historias de las canciones son sublimes, los coros y letras hipnotizantes, las guitarras con tintes cinematográficos, los walking basses clásicos y tocados con estilo, la puesta en escena la representación de las mismas. No tengo ni idea yo sobre géneros, pero si se cuando una banda toca bien. Y con los Telecasters no hay perdida, nunca.
Esta fue la segunda vez que he visto a los Rockers de Alfombra Roja. Se puede decir que a sido la primera vez que los he visto en vivo, porque esta vez si tocaron en las condiciones de sonido y de tiempo apropiadas que se merecen. Rock conciso y bastante tripeante, tomando en cuenta las interacciones de los dos guitarras (Johnnie y Sucheni), la batería precisa y con hits durisimos de Pipo, cada golpe, cada repique en donde tiene que estar, las voces y melodías cambiantes de Chente, de coros lush a gritos de garganta que dan disfrute sonico a todo el publico, y los bajos y coros galopantes de Mingo a grandes velocidades. Todo esto forma un sonido envolvente, melódico y pesado/psicodélico. Rock. Estos panas tocan duro, y saben impresionar. Una banda que toca en consonancia, como una sola pieza. No tome fotos en su set porque simplemente me quede escuchando, pero pueden ver varias mas en su myspace, pincha aquí.

Luego dicen que no hay bandas de Rock en Venezuela sonando bien, ni tocando duro. Les mantengo el pulso a las bandas de la zona de Venezuela y estan mas vivos que la mayoria del publico asistente, o pasivo. Dejen de quejarse y agarren un bajo o una guitarra y ponganse a cantar todos los días, todo el día. O agarra una pluma y ponte a dibujar 24/7 y aclarate los sentidos para criticar a los actos Venezolanos. El apoyo y la cultura musical tiene que agarrar mas peso, y por ende, educarse un poco mas. Palabra que no quería usar en esta parte, pero es lo que es.

Por l@s que la apoyan de manera correcta, buena esa. A mi me da igual si es talento nacional o no, a mi lo que me interesa es que me guste la banda. Que me guste lo que escucho. Me parece paja esto de que “hay que apoyar al talento nacional”, solo por que sea talento nacional. Abranse un poco mas los horizontes, no sean obtusos. Hay cierta camaraderia e implicación innegable entre los grupos Venezolanos, cierta complicidad, y siempre la habrá, igual que se puede llegar a una camaderia con grupos Chilenos o Madrileños. Pero no seamos nosotros mismos los que nos limitemos. Y bien por el Rock y toda la movida hecha en Venezuela. Yo estoy bastante feliz y lleno por lo que he experimentado estos últimos meses aquí en Caracas en todo lo que respecta al ámbito Musical y Cultural.

Both Bands Rocked the hell out, and in what a style. Check them out in their respectives Myspaces. Invite them places, both are bands with very nice people in em as a whole. I got an Invitation to Valencia, and I got to sing Beatles songs at 5 AM, both thigs that I love. So Good it doesn´t hurt.

I saw a few weeks back a Clone Theory that had something wrong with it, as any Sound Freak (Capital Letter please) my question to my friend Kovacs, who knows about this stuff inmesely was: “Would fixing it would change the originalk sound of the effect?”. Answer, No, so I went an payed for it and got it and the guy delivered it to Jim Kovacs office/workshop. The only guy who understands and has true knowledge about this kinds of things at worldwide professional level at this time in Caracas. Sorry other guys. Some thigs went wrong with the pedal, and he got the chip that goes along with it, the one that works properly, and a new circuit board, and is doing some surgeon work on it. I can´t wait to hear it. From the smoothness to the weirdness sounds that it will bring forth. Here are some pics of the repairment, and of the original pedal as I saw it on the url were I bought it.

I had a bunch of fun finding sounds in the amp modulator for this song and tweeking em. Bassmans, Fender twins, Tweeds, Ac30´s, Plexis, etc. It isn´t the real deal, it´s miles of, but it´s pretty much fun to play around. And I had a blast producing it. I know I kinda swore I was gonna take my time recording and producing stuff but for me was way to exiting a song that I had to hear it´s final “product”, it´s final sounding piece. The final sound palette of it. Most likely I´ll revisit it like most of the songs I place here (Drums too loud), but hey, fast a production, no different speakers to place reference, one shot at production. But am totally happy with the outcome of it.
This song among others is gonna come in a CD which will come with a Fanzine am gonna launch soon in an event along a couple of friends. I still have to decide the name of the Zine. Feedback Zine, most likely, cuz Sound Lab is too close to the the name of a great studio runned by a friend of mine here in Caracas. Sound Playground Maybe. Well, I hope y´all enjoy this months official Download, Luciano.

I think am gonna hang the guitar all day even when am doing chores. Am thinking too of having a small hiatus on the blog to focus on just making music even more “in the zone” all day. Not even to get in the production side of it, just in the playing, in the fun of it, and to widen my horizons with the instrument and tunings (if that´s possible). Let´s see how things go after the Fanzines events. But is a plan I´ve had in my mind for a long time now.

Well, I wanted to place too a song from the album “Sandinista!”, which would have painted a nice narrower picture, but I preferred to hear and place “Working for the Clampdown”. Hear and re-live what you tough was dead and gone. Hey, I never said this was in black and white, hehe. Full Technicolor.

Surreal, yo veía ese programa todas las noches como a las 1 am en mi piso con mis amigos y amigas españolas con unas birras. Se que se graba el programa en Barcelona, pero el tour de Gianko tambien incluye Madrid.
